Dex Kooiker of the De Baets AIT Racing Yamaha team won the penultimate round of the MX Nationals in Heerde on Sunday. Kooiker dominated both races to claim maximum points.

Kooiker immediately made his mark in qualifying, securing pole position with a 1.2-second advantage over the second-placed rider. He continued his dominant performance in both races that followed. In both the first and second motos, Kooiker quickly took the lead and went on to claim two convincing race victories.

Torre van Mechgelen also felt right at home during qualifying and set the third-fastest time.

In the first moto, Van Mechgelen got off to a poor start and had to begin the race from deep in the field. He launched an impressive comeback, overtaking rider after rider from 15th position. Within a few laps, he had moved into the top ten and maintained a strong pace to continue making up positions. Van Mechgelen produced a strong finish to the race and crossed the line in sixth place.

The second moto started with a setback for Van Mechgelen. During the opening lap, he crashed and was hit on the shoulder by another rider. Clearly in pain, Van Mechgelen was forced to retire from the race and therefore failed to score any points in the second moto.

On Sunday, October 11, Torre will compete in the final round of the MX Nationals in Valkenswaard.
