Lotte van Drunen of the De Baets AIT Racing Team delivered an impressive performance at the MX2 Grand Prix of Andalucía by scoring a World Championship point in the highly competitive MX2 class. At the Almonte circuit in Spain, the Dutch rider held her own against the male competition.

In the first moto, Van Drunen narrowly missed out on the points with a 21st-place finish. However, she improved in the second moto, finishing 20th and securing a valuable World Championship point.

The team’s other three riders were also in action in Spain during the opening rounds of the European Championships.

In the EMX250 class, Cole McCullough endured a difficult weekend. The Irish rider finished 29th and 28th in the motos, placing 28th overall for the day. Vencislav Toshev struggled to find his rhythm in time practice and did not qualify for the races.

In the EMX125 class, Torre van Mechgelen showed great resilience. With a 17th-place finish in the first moto and 24th in the second, he ended the weekend 23rd overall.
*”In the first moto I had a really good start and was around fifth or sixth place, but then I had to drop my pace. I stayed around tenth for about ten minutes, but then I was completely exhausted and finished 17th.

In the second moto I didn’t get a good start and had to come from around 35th place. Overtaking was difficult on a sketchy track, but I still managed to come back to 24th. I’m very satisfied with the weekend, especially as it was my first time in EMX125.”

For the De Baets AIT Racing Team, the event in Andalucía marked an important first step in the international season. Van Drunen’s World Championship point, in particular, highlights the team’s ongoing progress.

The focus now shifts to the next round in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Lotte van Drunen will once again compete in the MX2 class, while Cole McCullough, Vencislav Toshev, and Torre van Mechgelen will give their all in the EMX categories.
